Uniform

Our Nursery Children in their uniform

Nursery children can wear the school uniform. Uniform can be ordered from Marks and Spencer’s online service. It is best to dress your child wearing clothes that they find easy to pull up and down when using the toilet. Children need to wear shoes that are easy to take on and off (no laces) as they might like to dress up or play in the sand. Please ensure that all of your child’s clothing is clearly labelled with their name inside.

A book bag will be really useful for their reading folder and to put letters and pieces of artwork in each day.

Also see our Uniform page.

Dressing for the weather

We value outdoor play experiences and therefore use our outdoor area in all weather. Please can you ensure your child is dressed appropriately for all types of weather.

During Winter, please try to provide wellies, gloves, a scarf, hat and suitable coat. In Summer, please try to provide your child with a sun hat. As your child will be climbing and running no open toe sandals are allowed in Nursery. We ask parents to take responsibility for applying a sunscreen to all exposed areas of children’s skin before school on hot days.

Spare Clothes

Please ensure that your child has a bag of spare clothes on their peg. This must consist of the items below. All items must be named and please keep these topped up if your child has had an accident at school.

The School Day

Self-registration

The children will find their name and move it onto our self-registration board. This helps children to be able to recognise their own name.

Carpet time

Your child will take part in some adult led carpet sessions each day, these will consist of Phonics, Maths, Show and Tell, Story Time, Singing and Music or Games.

Learning time

Learning time is when children are able to learn through play exploring the different activities in the Nursery.

Free-flow learning time

Children can choose to be busy inside or outside. An adult focus activity will take place each morning and all children will be encouraged to take part for a short time. This will range from an Art, Cooking, Maths or a mark making activity, playing a game or sharing stories.

Tidy up time

Children help to tidy the Nursery. Children love to take part in tidying up. It is a great opportunity for children to develop their independence and team work skills.

Home time

When the school gate is open, parents and carers collect their children from the Nursery entrance.

Attendance

Nursery Sessions

Morning Session          8.45am – 11.45am

Afternoon Session         12.30pm-3.30pm

Full day Session           8.45am – 3.30pm

It is essential that your child attends school every day to help them feel settled and so they do not miss out on any learning. Children must arrive at school no later than 8.55am.

Late arrivals can be unsettling, both to your child and to the other children in the class.  Please collect your child promptly at the end of each session. If you are going to be late, please contact the school, before the end of the day. All children must be brought to school and collected by an adult. Please let your class teacher or the office know if someone different will be collecting your child from school.

Absences

Please inform the school office on the first day of absence if your child is going to be absent from school.

Lunch

School dinners

Many of our children choose to have school dinners as it encourages them to try different food with their friends. If you wish for your child to have school dinners, you must let the office know. School dinners are £2.60 a day for Nursery children. If your child has any dietary requirements, please let us know. We are a nut free school.

Packed lunches

Your child is able to bring in a packed lunch if you prefer. Please ensure that this contains no nuts and that it has healthy options.

School Lunches

Fruit and Milk

There is a snack bar open in the morning and the afternoon. The children are able to choose between water or milk and they can choose a piece of fruit that is provided. Children can help themselves to water throughout the day. Your child can bring in their own water bottle to keep in school each day.

Allergies and dietary requirements

Please ensure that you let us know if your child has any allergies or dietary requirements before your child starts Nursery.
