What a wonderful term we have had. You are all amazing and I am so proud of you all.
Today we had our star merit assembly. Well done to Emily who received our star merit for always being a wonderful role model. Well done to all the children for their hard word and determination.
This week we had lots of fun recording our Christmas nativity songs. We dressed up as different animals from the story. Check out our wonderful singing on Seesaw 🙂
I wish all our families a Happy Christmas,
Take care and stay safe,
This week in Oak class we continued to get into the Christmas spirit with our Christmas Disco, Christmas Dinner and Christmas Jumper day. We were all very excited and had lots of fun.
We have been reading the story ‘Stickman’. We have made our own Stickman characters and created our family tree from the story.
We have also been exploring freezing and melting. We learned Freezing is the change that occurs when a liquid changes into a solid as the temperature decreases. Melting is the opposite change, from a solid to a liquid as the temperature increases. Our job was to free the animals and people by getting the ice to melt.
In craft club the children made beautiful Christmas trees.
Our Merits this week went to Estrella and Joseph. Estrella and Joseph have been growing in confidence and sharing their wonderful ideas in our class discussions. They were able to sequence the different places Stickman went in the story. Well done 🙂
Have a wonderful weekend Oaks,
This week we began our advent countdown to Christmas. In RE we retold ‘The Christmas Story’ and began learning some songs to go with the story. Here are some of the wonderful Advent calendars the children created.
We created our cards for Age UK. We used fruit and vegetables to make the snowman.
Santa’s elves were busy designing, assembling, wrapping and posting toys for Christmas.
We celebrated our Merit assembly today. Our Merits went to Henry and Anamaria. They received Merits for using their imagination, being creative and focused in our role play area. Well done!

This week we continued our celebrations topic. We celebrated Diwali and found out it was called ‘the festival of lights.’ We created Rangoli patterns and made our own Diwali lamps called ‘diyas’.
This week, Oak class have also been thinking of our value of service. On Wednesday 11th of November we remembered our heroes and created a wreath with poppies.
Today we had lots of fun dressing up and raising money for children in need. Thank you to everyone for your kind donations.
Well done to Josiah and Olivia who received Merits today. Olivia is an enthusiastic member of our class who loves to join in our class discussions. Josiah has been applying his phonics knowledge to his reading.
Have a wonderful weekend Oaks,
We have had a busy first week back. Our topic this term is Celebrations. The first celebration that we looked at was Bonfire Night. We had lots of fun listening to firework poetry in our book ‘Zim Zam Zoom’. We created firework poems, discussing what fireworks sound and look like. We created some amazing firework art using marbles, learned a firework song and had some delicious hot dogs. We also talked about the importance of fire safety.
We also enjoyed celebrating National Skipping Day in PE.
Today we had our celebration Merit Assembly.
Well done to Isaac and Sophia who received Merits today! They are great role models and have shared some wonderful learning this week.
Come back next Friday to see what other celebrations we get up to!
Have a lovely weekend,
We have had another busy week here in Oak Class and I can’t believe we are nearly at the end of our first half term.
We looked at the changes that are happening in our natural world at the moment. We went outside and looked at what happens around our school in Autumn. We noticed lots of different changes that have occurred such as the leaves are changing colour and falling down, the weather is getting colder and we have to wear different clothes such a coats, gloves, boots and scarves. We had lots of fun making pumpkins using orange playdough and making different colour and shape leaf prints with paint.
This is month, everyone in the UK is coming together to celebrate Black History Month. Black History Month recognises the contributions that black people have made to the UK over many generations; it is a time to remember and celebrate the inspirational people that have shaped the world we live in. In Oak class we have been looking at the inspirational athletes Usain Bolt and Mo Farah. We enjoyed reading facts all about them and watching their Olympic achievements. The children were very inspired and loved doing the ‘Lightning Bolt’ and ‘Mobot’ pose.
Have a lovely weekend and do email me with any questions
This week we have really enjoyed retelling the story of The Little Red Hen. We enjoyed taking on the roles of different characters and looking at the importance of working together and helping others.
This week both Emily and Rayleigh were awarded merits.
Emily received her Merit for always being kind and caring towards all of her friends in Oak Class. Rayleigh showed great understanding of the story ‘The Little Red Hen’ and was very confident sharing her ideas. Well done to you both!
Leadership is one of St Anne’s learning behaviours that all children are encouraged to demonstrate. All children at St Anne’s are part of a leadership group and are considered Young Leaders. Each class is given a leadership area that they are responsible for promoting and nurturing over the year. This helps them to feel a sense of empowerment as they work together to inspire, develop and lead.
Acorns and Oaks are Positivity Pals
We will be working to spread positivity and promote well-being throughout the school.
Have a wonderful weekend,
This week was Healthy Eating week. We talked about what a healthy plate should look like. We made some healthy fruit skewers and enjoyed sharing them with our friends.
This week we have also been learning all about matching and comparing objects. We really enjoyed reading the book Simon Sock to help us with this.
Today we celebrated our third Merit Assembly, celebrating the children’s achievements. This weeks Merits went to Kayla and Rayyan. This week we have been learning all about Harvest. Rayyan really enjoyed singing and dancing to our Harvest song ‘Big Red Combine Harvester’. Kayla confidently shared her ideas about Harvest during our RE carpet sessions.
Dede and Emily also received some awards for helping to tidy up and Xavier for trying lots of different activities and using his wonderful imagination.
